What Is Yin Yoga?
- Rick Brandl, RMT
Yin Yoga has us working the deeper yin tissues of our ligaments, tendons, joints, deep fascial networks and even bones.
Most forms of what we in the West refer to as yoga are dynamic, active practices designed to actively work the muscular aspect of our Healthy Body, otherwise known as the yang tissues. Yin Yoga has us working the deeper yin tissues of our ligaments, tendons, joints, deep fascial networks and even bones.
Poses are held from 2-5 minutes and in some instances, up to 20 minutes. Yin is not a form of rehabilitative yoga and is much more challenging than many people think. It is a great form of meditation as well.
